Conversion rate

What is the conversion rate?

The email marketing conversion rate is a metric that indicates the percentage of individuals who completed a desired action after receiving a marketing email. This action can vary depending on the campaign objectives, such as purchasing a product, registering for an event, downloading a resource, or any other specific interaction.

The conversion rate in email marketing is calculated by dividing the number of actions performed by the total number of emails sent, then multiplying the result by 100 to obtain a percentage.

$$\text{Conversion Rate}= {{\text{Number of Actions Performed}\over\text{Total Number of Emails Sent}}*100}$$

The effectiveness of a campaign can be considered higher when the result obtained is high.

An example of calculation

For example, if 500 recipients clicked on a link in the email and you sent the email to 10,000 people, the conversion rate would be 5%.

The conversion rate is a key metric for evaluating the effectiveness of an email marketing campaign. It reveals how persuasive the email was in motivating recipients to take action. A high conversion rate indicates that the email successfully engaged the target audience and guided them toward the desired goal, while a low rate may suggest the need to optimize the campaign's content or strategy.
